Since the beginning of this year, we have been working on a topic of great importance to be discussed, "Irregular Occupations in Cities". During our project we tried to understand the factors that cause this problem in the country and its consequences, in addition to looking for NGOs and other organizations that seek to help people who face this problem.

 

We have always had the objective of softening or ending this issue, for this, we contacted several politicians from the Guarulhos region, NGOs and other institutions. At this point, where we weren't sure whether or not we would get an answer from some organization or public office, we thought about creating this site that has as main objective to make the most of people aware through our research. After a few days, we received a response from the NGO Teto Brasil, an organization that operates in 19 Latin American countries, that seeks to overcome the poverty of people in precarious communities through community commitment and the mobilization of young volunteers. 

 

During the interview with the national social manager of TETO Brasil, Juliana Simionato, we addressed several issues in relation to irregular occupations, during the interview we also asked why TETO considers this problem relevant and why it is so important to end this situation in the country. We also questioned some topics, trying to know: "What are the main difficulties faced by the team?", "How has this period changed the work you do?" and "In which regions of the country do you act the most?". Finally, we ask if the NGO receives any kind of aid, how we could help mitigate and in the future end this problem and what our group and the population could do to end prejudice and discrimination (one of the main factors that cause the emergence of irregular dwellings).

 

At the end of the interview, we decided that the best option to help mitigate this problem and many others that end up propitiating it, would be population awareness through a website. That's why we created this site… Which presents as its main objective, not only presentation of our research, but the awareness of all, so that all this can be mitigated and society can then live equally.
